The Healing Hands of a HILOT Practitioner

"Hilot" is quickly regaining grounds in the world of massage therapy. It is becoming one of the hottest trends in our spas today. Out of some 90 spas in the Philippines, some 37 Department of Tourism-accredited spas are now offering hilot to their local and foreign guests. Hilot has healing capabilities and we already have several clients who have attested to that.

Hilot was actually nominated as the "Spa Treatment of the Year" during the 2005 Baccarat Inaugural Awards in Hong Kong. Soon, the art of Filipino healing and massage will also be available in Europe. A Philippine non-governmental organization and a company in Germany recently signed a memorandum of understanding for the transfer of the technology to introduce hilot in Europe! Isn't that something?! That should make Filipinos proud!!

Before anything else, let's first define what Hilot is. Hilot (/hee-lot/) is a Filipino healing art which actually means "massage" or "healer". It is a highly intuitive massage wherein the therapist identifies areas of energy imbalance in the body through touch diagnosis. It manipulates electrical charges in the body that creates a biochemical reaction where it is needed. A liver, for instance, can be supplied with precise electrical activity. If this delicate balance is disrupted and the problem is left unattended, it can lead to disease. While many popular massages had predetermined sequences of strokes, hilot was customized to the needs of clients. With hilot, focus was not limited to the muscle or tissue alone. It also soughts to harness bio-energies for balance, harmony, health and wellness.

At Chris & Chat Spa and Facial Care Center, hilot is offered as a full body 60 minutes massage which involves a medium deep tissue massage wherein the therapist uses rapid mixed with slower moving finger and hand pressure over various documented pressure points throughout the back and legs. Some of our clients find themselves more relaxed and de-stressed after a hilot session than after other types of massages.

A word of caution ... be aware that there are scores of hilots in Manila and many are fake. Most are malpracticing for the money and are not really in business to heal. So be on guard in your search for an authentic and therapeutic hilot service.

Authentic hilot practitioners do have healing hands!

ARTISTRY Creme LuXury - A Revolutionary Anti-Aging Product from Amway

It's surprising to see Amway endorsements all over the media network. There used to be a time when advertising Amway products seemed taboo. This doesn't seem to be the case now.

The latest and most promising advertisement I saw was by well known actress Sandra Bullock on ARTISTRY Créme LuXury - the most advanced, luxurious, anti-aging moisturizer ever created by Amway. Leveraging patent-pending CellEffect technology, ARTISTRY Créme LuXury offers the latest technology to reverse the visible signs of ageing caused by environmental factors and daily stress.

While celebrity endorsements really don't mean that much, they do raise brand awareness. And the fact that Sandra Bullock has never endorsed a product before says a lot. According to the news, Sandra rigorously grilled ARTISTRY™ scientists before agreeing to represent Créme LuXury to learn more about the product. She needed to trust in the safety of the product and tested the product herself.

“I don’t endorse things that I don’t use, that I don’t believe in myself,” says Sandra. “I was excited to be behind something that I felt really safe and comfortable with, and that, to me, is really important. I’ve always said no before, because if I wouldn’t put it on my own skin I would never ask other women to put it on theirs.”

Believing that Créme LuXury is truly an exceptional product, created from true science and true beauty, Sandra shared her enthusiasm for the ARTISTRY™ Créme LuXury experience with women the world over.

ARTISTRY Créme LuXury can be purchased solely from Amway Independent Business Owners (IBO).

Slow Down The Wrinkle Process with FACIAL YOGA

If looking ridiculous will help slow down the wrinkles from showing up on your face, will you be willing to give it a try? If you could keep your face looking young without the costly anti-aging creams, peels, botox, and facelifts, will you be willing to give it a try?

If you answered with an astounding “YES”, read on.

Learning to control movement in the face can slow down the effects of aging caused by repetitive habits. Muscles in the face have one purpose -- facial expression. When those muscles tighten, you get creases on the forehead, around the eyes and lips. Botox works by paralyzing those muscles so you can't use them. If you can mentally relax your face and avoid bad facial habits, you can help prevent lines from appearing. It just takes more work. You can do this through the latest and most cost effective anti-aging fad: Facial Yoga.

Exercise caution as you try facial yoga. According to Marie Veronique Nadeau, author of The Yoga Facelift, there is a right way and a wrong way to exercise your face. Any expression that you make repeatedly creates grooves in the surface of your skin. Make the expression over and over and the lines stay in your face even when you have stopped making the expression. Look in the mirror frequently to make sure you are not wrinkling other parts of your face when you exercise. Done correctly, facial exercise can help smooth out expression lines because, for one thing, you become aware of how you are using your face.

Stress is one of the major causes of facial wrinkling. Furrowed brows and clenched jaws, often in response to stress, can age the face tremendously. Although there are more effective ways to combat aging, quieting your frown through facial yoga can be beneficial.

Exercise your face! Slow down the wrinkle process with facial yoga! You may not burn many calories, but you could take some years off your face.

Understanding the Benefits of Swedish Massage

There are different types of massage therapies available. For this article, we will just focus on the benefits of Swedish Massage.

Massage therapy helps relieve the stress and tension of everyday living that can lead to disease and illness. It has proven beneficial for many chronic conditions including low back pain, arthritis, fatigue, high blood pressure, diabetes, infertility and depression, to name a few.

Swedish massage is most commonly used for stress related ailments such as a stiff neck, back ache, and to relieve physical pain from emotional problems. It revolves around long smooth strokes, kneading, circular movements on the layers of muscles with the use of oil or massage lotion. It enables the muscles to relax as the massage therapist applies pressure on the deep muscles and bones. It is designed to increase the amount of oxygen that is flowing through your blood, which may improve healing and decrease swelling from an injury. It helps to release the toxins that are lurking in your muscles which causes some of your discomfort. The massage will be done in such a way as to work with the direction in which the blood is flowing back to your heart. This technique results in generalized relaxation.

Swedish massage is characterized by five deep strokes across our chests. A therapist begins by placing their hands just under your first ribs and applying gentle pressure with the fingertips. They sweep the skin from your ribs in a downwards movement to your waist. This technique is done five times on the chest, before turning to the neck and doing five smaller strokes from the nape to the top of the spinal column. The process is then repeated on the back. If any knots are found in the muscles while Swedish massage is being performed, a massage therapist will apply hard pressure with their fingertips to release the knots. This sometimes painful practice is referred to as deep tissue massage and is often used in conjunction with Swedish massage. This helps blood to flow properly through the tissues and muscles, thus reducing stress and promoting relaxation.

Massage Practice Exams for NCETMB, NCETM and MBLEx

To get the most benefit from the massage, try to relax for the rest of the day. Having a massage on your lunch hour and then going back to a stressful afternoon on the job is not a great idea. It's also recommended that you drink plenty of water before and after the massage to help flush out the toxins that massage loosens up.

As beneficial as massage can be, it's not for everyone. If you have any fractures, infections, active cancer, orthopaedic conditions, or skin problems, you need to recover first before having a massage. Consult your therapist.

And just how often should you have a Swedish Massage and experience its benefits? As often as you can afford it!
